First Generator Unit of Uch-Kurgan Hydropower Plant Modernization Project in Kyrgyzstan Put into Operation

On December 26, 2024, the first generator unit (Unit 4) of the Uch-Kurgan Hydropower Plant modernization project in Kyrgyzstan achieved full-load grid-connected power generation, officially entering a 14-day trial operation phase. The project was undertaken by China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNEEC). On December 30, 2024, the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan visited the Uch-Kurgan Hydropower Plant modernization project site and presided over the completion ceremony for Unit 4.

Earlier, on December 23, 2024, during the celebration of the 90th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan's energy sector, the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan awarded Yuan Bo, Deputy General Manager of CNEEC, the "Outstanding Contribution Award for Foreign Companies in Promoting the Development of Kyrgyzstan's Energy Sector." On December 27, 2024, the president of the project owner sent a formal commendation letter to CNEEC and its project team, expressing high praise for the successful grid-connected operation of Unit 4.
