On December 27, 2024, the 17.7MW waste-to-energy project in Palembang, Indonesia, undertaken by China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNEEC), successfully obtained an export buyer's credit insurance policy, which has now come into effect. This achievement was made possible through the close collaboration and persistent efforts of the Strategic Clients Service Department One at China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation (Sinosure) and CNEEC's project team in Palembang. The policy, which covers both commercial and political risks, marks Sinosure's first financing product for waste-to-energy projects with a maximum payout ratio of 95% for both types of risks.

The project is in line with Indonesia's green economy and power development plans, as well as the 2018 Presidential Decree that encourages the construction of waste-to-energy projects. Its emissions will fully comply with Indonesia's local environmental standards. Upon completion, the project will transform Palembang's current reliance on landfill for domestic waste disposal, setting a positive example for environmental protection and waste management in Palembang and across Indonesia.
